Association For Community Living Expresses Gratitude to Legislature for Passage of 9-8-8 Legislation

(Albany, N.Y.) – The Association for Community Living (ACL) is expressing gratitude to the New York State Senate and Assembly legislators for their swift action to pass the 9-8-8 legislation. This bill will do so much to elevate the importance of mental health treatment and advocacy, helping those who need it most.

“Just like any emergency, someone may experience a mental health crisis at any time,” said Sebrina Barrett, Executive Director, Association for Community Living, “but with the 9-8-8 hotline established, those in crisis will be aided by responders with specific expertise to address mental health concerns. We applaud the legislature for recognizing the importance of this tool to help people take the first step on their journey towards recovery. We look forward to S.6194/A.7177 being delivered to the Governor for his signature.”

ACL is especially appreciative of the bill’s sponsors, Senator Samra Brouk, (D, WF – 55th District), and Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther, (D, I, WF – 100th District).
