WHAT: On Tuesday, January 31st , representatives of a statewide coalition of nonprofits will gather to call on Governor Cuomo and the legislature to strengthen the nonprofit human services sector through smart, efficient investment and systemic changes. The Executive Budget, while acknowledging the importance of human services, provided little in the way of strengthening the organizations and the sector responsible for lifting families out of poverty.
The coalition recently launched the Restore Opportunity Now campaign and released a report showing that while more than a quarter of Albany residents live in poverty, human services sector spending in New York has decreased by an average of 1.3 percent per year since 2011.
The Restore Opportunity Now campaign is supported by more than 340 organizations across New York State.
WHEN: Tuesday, January 31st at 11AM
