C.M.S. Approves Value Based Payment Roadmap

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services approved New York State’s Value Based Payment Roadmap, which explains the state’s plan to reform Medicaid in New York.

The roadmap was required as part of the $8 billion Medicaid waiver. Federal officials want the billions to create long-term and long lasting change, rather than one-time payments that don’t last.

C.M.S. required New York to explain how it would ensure that more than 80 percent of Medicaid payments flowed through value-based contracts, rewarding health systems that provide more efficient care.
