New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR) Invites You to Join the Conversation:  Fair Housing in New York Matters

New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR) is currently conducting its Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice (AI) which is a report required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  The purpose of the AI is to identify the various factors that may interfere with fair housing choices, and make recommendations to overcome impediments to fair housing in the State. The recommendations included in the AI will be considered when the State sets its funding goals and priorities.

As part of the AI process, HCR held 13 Regional Public meetings during July and August in counties across the State. During these meetings we heard stories, ideas, and concerns from partners, developers, nonprofit organizations, interested parties and residents based on their own personal experiences and those of their clients and constituents.

We invite you to attend one of the upcoming final Regional Public meetings to learn about the obstacles to fair housing choice identified through this public engagement process as well as preliminary recommendations to further promote fair housing.  These meetings will give you the opportunity to provide feedback on both the findings and recommendations.
