Dear Colleagues:
As we wrap up Suicide Prevention Week, culminating with World Suicide Prevention Day yesterday, I am thrilled to announce that soon-to-be retiring OMH Deputy Commissioner Marcia Fazio will be the new Director at the Suicide Prevention Center of NY in Menands. Marcia’s retirement will last a whole 3 weeks when, renewed and full of vigor(and laughter), she assumes her new post at SPCNY on October 19th.
As many of you know, Marcia brings over 30 years of experience and leadership both at Central Office and the Hudson River Field Office, serving with distinction throughout. During that time she has always been passionate about Suicide Prevention, leveraging her leadership positions to bring increased attention to the field, including as lead author of OMH white paper “Suicide as a Never Event” in 2013.
I can’t imagine a better addition to the NYS Suicide Prevention Team.
