Guidance Document for Behavioral Health Information Technology (BHIT) Grants

The New York State Department of Health (DOH), Office of Mental Health (OMH), and Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) is pleased to provide a guidance document for Adult Behavioral Health Home and Community Based Services (BH-HCBS) provider agencies that have received multiple Health Information Technology (HIT) grants or are eligible to participate in HIT support programs. The document is available on the OMH BHIT web page.

As each of these grants and programs have specific guidelines for eligibility and rules regarding the purchase of Health Information Technology (HIT) hardware and software, the document provides guidance on how HIT purchases charged against these grants and programs may be used to optimize all the HIT funding. The information provided in this guidance may be subject to change based on changes in contract language.

HIT Grants/Programs:

Behavioral Health-Developmental Disabilities (BH-DD) Information Technology (IT) Grant
Adult BH HCBS Start-Up Grant
Children’s Health Information Technology (HIT) Start-Up Grant
Adult BH HCBS Behavioral Health Information Technology (BHIT) Program
Should you have any questions regarding the guidance document, feel free to reach out to your BHIT program point of contact.

All questions should be directed to either the OASAS or the OMH mailboxes listed below:
