RISE (formerly Transitional Services Association) seeks a dedicated and self-motivated individual to join our agency’s leadership team as our new Clinical Director. The Clinical Director must be an outstanding communicator who is able to resolve conflicts and solve problems calmly and confidently. Must possess a deep respect for the people we serve and be able to inspire that in others. The ideal candidate will work well in a fast-paced environment and enjoy developing new projects.

PROGRAM:   Administration

JOB TITLE:   Clinical Director


  • LMSW or other Master’s level clinical degree
  • 4+ years relevant clinical experience, 2 of which must be in a supervisory, coordinative, or administrative capacity, administrative experience desirable
  • Familiarity with NYS mental health and chemical dependency and related regulatory requirements
  • High standard of professional ethics
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and electronic health records
  • Clearance with all relevant background checks as per agency policies and governing regulations
  • A vehicle, valid NY State Driver’s License, and a driving record acceptable to the TSA automotive program are required


  • An empathetic attitude toward the individuals the agency serves, including people with mental health diagnoses, substance use disorders, and people who are homeless
  • Excellent clinical, organizational and communication skills required, excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to balance concerns for programs and clients with administrative responsibilities
  • Possess strong crisis management and problem-solving skills
  • Act as an effective leader and role model for staff; independently exercise sound judgment
  • Ability to function as a member of a team, while working autonomously
  • Dedication to the agency’s mission, goals, and values


To direct the clinical operations of the agency, act as a clinical resource for all programs, oversee assigned programs, and implement the strategic vision of the agency in collaboration with the administrative team.


The Clinical Director will have a broad range of duties including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Work as part of agency’s administrative team in the development and implementation of new programs
  • Consult with program staff and clinically assist with client care
  • Monitoring and oversight of assigned programs and direct supervision of assigned Program Directors
  • Act as clinical representative for agency, programs, and clients
  • Participate in the review of incidents, Justice Center reporting, and training
  • Assist in the certification process of assigned programs; ensure compliance with State regulatory requirements
  • Mastermind ways to improve the quality of client care provided by agency programs and staff
  • Develop clinical policies and goals to direct staff toward a common vision
  • Develop and present clinical trainings for staff
  • Oversee Utilization Reviews in conjunction with Residential Director
  • Interface with other service providers to enhance and maintain positive working relations
  • Serve as acting director of assigned programs as needed
  • Assist in hiring program staff as needed
  • Participate in program/agency events
  • On-call responsibility as assigned
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned
