The Peer Support Specialist provides peer support, information, and advocacy to individuals in peer run crisis
respite program, in order to assist guests in regaining control over their own lives and recovery process, and
integrating into the community. Assists guests in articulating goals for recovery and determining the objectives
needed to reach their goals, as well as assisting guests in obtaining community supports that tie in to their
recovery goals. Facilitates trainings, workshops, groups and activities, as needed.
Candidates must be a past or present consumer of mental health and/or chemical addiction services
who can relate to others who are currently using those services. Able to share personal experience and
encourage wellness and recovery. High School or GED required. Preferred to have some type of peer
counselor training from a community agency. NYS motor vehicle license, safe driving record preferred.
Full-time, 35 hours: Shifts can start as early as 6:30 AM or go as late as 11:30 PM. Weekend shifts also
