ACTION ALERT: Urge Governor Cuomo to Sign the Mental Health Housing Commission Bill!

Please take a moment to send an E-letter directly to Governor Cuomo to urge him to sign the Mental Health Housing Commission Bill (A.7489/S.5637) into law!

It is so easy to do! Just click this link, then enter your street address, zip code, and full name and a digital copy of an E-letter will be generated addressed from you to the Governor! You can then either choose to e-mail it to him OR print and mail a hard copy.

We’ve created this campaign so you can help us influence the Governor to sign this bill ASAP.

Just last month, the New York State Senate and Assembly unanimously passed this bill – a direct result of the Bring It Home Campaign’s education and advocacy over the last year and a half – which would establish a temporary commission to study New York’s mental health housing programs under the auspice of the Office of Mental Health.

The nine-member commission would take on the task of reviewing current funding and staffing levels across New York and investigating ways the state can begin to remedy its years-long failure to adequately fund mental health housing programs.

The commission needs six months to gather information that will be crucial to next year’s budget negotiations, and they can’t get started until the Governor signs this bill into law. Once the bill is sent to him, he will only have 10 days to sign it, so we need to move quickly to make sure the Governor makes this a priority!

Our goal is to send 5,000 letters to the Governor ASAP!

We encourage you to send the E-letter more than once and please forward this link to anyone who would also be willing to send it!

Thank You for helping us Bring It Home!
